I like exploring complex systems, understanding what makes them tick, then using this understanding to improve and scale them. This is the thread that pulled me from my time as a math professor, through data science, to my current role as head of software engineering at an R&D-stage biotech startup called Cellarity.

It turns out a biotech organization is a complex system that often faces a recurring struggle: how to balance flexibility and experimentation required for innovation against structure and consistency needed to scale.

My goal is to identify ways to scale biotech research through software design without sacrificing flexibility and innovation.

As I work towards figuring this out, I’ll share what I learn here and in my weekly newsletter.
