Integrating data teams into a biotech research organization is more than just finding the right technology. Data scientists, bench scientists and other members of the organization bring with them very different mental models, based on their individual backgrounds and experience. To get data teams and lab teams to effectively communicate and coordinate, you need to work with them to build a shared mental model that’s optimized for the organization’s scientific program.
On this blog, I explore how shared mental models develop (or don’t) within a biotech research organization, and what you can do to make the process faster, more effective and less painful.
As I work towards figuring this out, I’ll share what I learn in monthly posts here and in shorter weekly posts on my weekly newsletter.
